Known as the Chinese Disneyland, San Gabriel's Focus Plaza has always lived up to its nickname. Anchored by a Chinese grocery store, the Chinese mall offers two levels of restaurants, jewelry and ginseng shops, culminating in a multi-story glass department store with a dim sum restaurant on the top floor. Its spacious parking lot can accommodate more than a thousand cars, which never seems to make finding a space easier. The opening of the plaza in 1990 marked the shift of the center of Southern California's Chinese community from Chinatown in downtown Los Angeles to the east.
